getting to know 'him'

i received this story from one of iium alumnus..

There was once a man who was an enemy to Islam. He had three famous questions that no person could answer. No Islamic scholar in Baghdad could answer his three questions...thus he made fun of Islam in public. He constantly ridiculed Islam and the Muslims. 
 
One day a small boy, whose age was 10, came along and heard the man yelling and screaming at Muslims in the street. He was challenging people openly to answer the three questions.
The boy stood quietly and watched. He then decided that he would challenge the man. He walked up and told the man, "I will accept your challenge".
The man laughed at the boy and ridiculed the Muslims even more by saying, "A ten year old boy challenges me. Is this all you people have to offer!"
But the boy patiently reiterated his stance. He would challenge the man, and with Allah?s help and guidance, he would put this to an end. The man finally accepted.
The entire city gathered around a small "hill" where open addresses were usually made. The man climbed to the top, and in a loud voice asked his first question.
"What is your God doing right now?"
The small boy thought for a little while and then told the man to climb down the hill and to allow him to go up in order to address the question.
The man says "What? You want me to come down?"
The boy says, "Yes. I need to reply, right?"
The man made his way down and the small boy, age 10, with his little feet made his way up.
This small child?s reply was "Oh Allah Almighty! You be my witness in front of all these people. You have just willed that a Kafir be brought down to a low level, and that a Muslim be brought to a high level!"
The crowd cheered and screamed "Takbir"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!"
The man was humiliated, but he boldly asked his Second question... "What existed before your God?"
The small child thought and thought.
Then he asked the man to count backwards. "Count from 10 backwards."
The man counted..."10, 9, 8 , 7 , 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,0"
The boy asked, "What comes before 0?"
The man: "I don?t know...nothing."
The boy: "Exactly. Nothing was before Allah, for He is eternal and absolute."
The crowd cheered again...."Takbir!"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!!"
The man, now completely frustrated, asked his final question. "In which direction is your Allah facing?"
The boy thought and thought.
He then asked for a candle. A candle was brought to him. The blessed child handed it to the man and asked him to light it.
The man did so and remarked, "What is this supposed to prove?"
The young boy asked, "In which direction is light from the candle going?"
The man responded, "It is going in all directions."
The boy: "You have answered your own question. Allah's light (noor) goes in all directions. His knowledge everywhere. 
 
There is nowhere that His (swt) knowledge cannot be found.
"The crowd cheered again...."Takbir!"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!"
The man was so impressed and so moved by the boy?s knowledge and spirituality, that he embraced Islam and became a student of the young boy.
So ended the debate.
Who was the young boy?
The young boy was one of our leaders and one of the greatest scholars, Imam Abu Hanifa (May Allah bless him).

WHO IS THIS IMAM ABU HANIFAH??

Imam Abu Hanifa is one of the four imams. He was born on 80 A.H. at Kufah, Iraq. Some of his 

characteristics are:

a). Impartiality: Imaam Abu Hanifah (R. A.) has never accepted a favour from anyone and so was never indebted to anyone.  

b). Humanitarian ways& generosity: On seeing Imaam Abu Hanifah (R. A.) a passer by avoided him and took a different path. When Imaam Abu Hanifah (R.A.) questioned as to why he did so, he replied that he was ashamed of himself as he was Imaam Abu Hanifah’s debtor of 10 000 Dirhams. The man’s humbleness over took Imaam Abu Hanifah (R.A.) and so he forgave the repayment of the debt.  

c). Kind heartedness: Once, whilst sitting in a Masjid Imaam Sahib learnt of someone who had fallen from a roof. Immediately, Imaam Sahib departed from the gathering, barefooted, and ran to the place of accident. Until the injured recovered, Imaam Sahib paid daily visits to nurse him.  

d). Disposition : Imaam Sahib would never speak unless it was necessary to do so. Someone mentioned before Sufyan Thawri (R.A.) that he had never heard Imaam Sahib back biting. Sufyan (R.A.) replied, "Abu Hanifah (R.A.) is not such a fool that he will destroy his own good deeds."  

e). Abstinence & God Fearing Ways: 

i). Sharik has stated, "I have never once observed Imaam Abu Hanifah reposing within the nights hours."  

ii). Abu Nu’aym states, "Even before observing salaah Imaam Hanifah (R. A.) would weep and supplicate before Allah."  

iii). There is no such Surah within the Qur’an which I have not recited during Nafl prayers." - Abu Hanifah (R. A.)  

iv). Kharija lbn Mus’ab has stated that 4 religious leaders have completed the recitation of the entire Qur’an in one rakaah of salaah alone. Uthmaan Ibn Affaan (RA.), Tameen Daari (RA.), Sa’eed Ibn Jubair (R. A.) and Imaam Abu Hanifah (R. A.).  

v). There was once acknowledgment of a stolen sheep. Imaam Abu Hanifah inquired and researched as to how long a sheep lives. After finding out, he never ate sheep for 7 years, fearing that the meat may be from the stolen sheep.  

vi). For 40 consecutive years Imaam Sahib observed a nocturnal practice of performing Fajr salaah with the ablution of Esha. 

Imam Abu Hanifah, throughout his life has perfomed 55 times of hajj. Another amazing fact that it is almost impossible for us to do is that he completed the whole quran, 60 times in a month of Ramadhan. But for us, we would take months or years to complete reading the whole Quran!

wedding to come

2 months to go before i end my status as a single lady..

so near yet so far..time is ticking, not ticking, but running and crashing all the way to 8th of march 2009. so it is near.. but far in the sense that whether i am... or i am not... too many things undone but nothing to do... pre marriage means draining your money from the pockets and pouches you have, plus ppl around u, and yet u still need more..  things like "i have to that", "i dont need to rush on this", "this must be done by tomorrow", "what else do i need to do, ppl help meee!!!!" are normal.. but this maddening syndrome and voiceless screaming are just inside my head, while i am enjoying myself to heaven. by drinking coffee, blogging and such, that dont even contribute in solving the unsolve! 

anyway, this is the 'done' part, :p (quite proud of myself, especially in this puzzling craze mind!)

a great girlie weekend..molie( an old fren of mine from sktbp) came to my house. we went shopping at nilai 3 for decoration stuff for my hantaran..whewww..spent about 5 hours there..and i had my first air jambu batu with asam shake..wow! best giler..

we went back home..started excitedly unpacking the plastic bags.. and....till midnight..we managed to finish everything..hehe..

o yeah.. on the first night, we talked and talked till 430 am..hehe catching up those missing years..

to molie, come n lets do facial..n watch midnight's, and others..

of being single again

yesternite, after a lil bit of thinking, i think, for the final 2 months before my wedding, i want to be single again. not as in looking for new boyfriend or flirting around. but single in the sense that a time for myself, a time for me to feel free from a relationship (im not into lepak2 wif guys..) to hang out with my girlfriends, doing crazy stuff.. and all..

ive been in this relationship, with the same guy for almost 5 years, starting a year after finishing my high school till this very second. so, before spending time and life together with him for the rest of my life (insyaallah), i guess, i do need my single moment.

aja aja!

microteaching

15th December - 24th December 2008 marked the two weeks of immeasureable length of tiredness, full of boring trainers delivering interesting issues, creating glass puppet out of boredom,  and teaching a class of people who are more or less the same age as my dad, and were his colleagues once upon a time! as the practical part of the training.. 

So, the training, known as pedagogy training is designed for the new teaching staff. It has 4 parts, from OBE(1) to art of teaching(2) to assesments and evaluations(3) are among the useful topics taught. 

The fourth part would be the practical, which is microteaching(4). we were given 1/2 hour to teach any subject, by applying the theories taught in the previous lessons ( except for the 3rd part). 

okay, so for me, im bored to death listening to all the subjects that were very technical in nature.. like landing gear, vb.net, helicopter, automotive, projectile motion, etc..hey, im an english lecturer, how am i going to understand all those within 1/2 hour..goshh

so, my turn came, and i taught them poetry: brief history and 4 simple poetic devices (rhyme, simile, metaphor & personification). thats it, with few examples, and afterward, in groups, these students had to create a poem, using any of the poetic devices taught. before the class ended, they had to recite their poems.. and i can see that, everybody was laughing and enjoying the class so much. 

later on, i asked the trainer who was evaluating us, on my peformance. he answered " u r above average" 

YAY! thats cool and great! - for a young and inexperienced lecturer . and a week later, one of the technical lecturers said that i was good because he still remember the poetic devices taught though it was the first time for him to join a poetry class.. hehe thats even better for me!

Along my big sister

the outside of my house is raining..drizzling to be exact.. the day is nothing near to gloomy, though the sun rays are blocked by the countless clouds moving slowly.. from afar, i could hear the quranic recitation on air, from masjid at taqwa.. the atmosphere is SERENE..

enjoying this quiet moment very much, i started my day by surfing the best hotel deal for my coming honeymoon, shouting at my beloved on the phone over something unpleasant (yesternite's), putting on my wedding ring, and admiring its beauty on my finger..( hehe), and updating myself on my friends' ongoing..by checking their fs's profile..

i came across along's fs account.. then continuing to her blog..

missing her like crazy.. 

along is a good friend of mine from iiu. i got close to her during my 3rd yr or so.. we used to walk and talk non stop about everything till she reached her mahallah, n i will continue my journey to my mahallah..

on the campus ( we were in different departments), i would call her to have lunch together, before rushing back to our work. or if we are free, we'll sit there, up to few hours..killing the time..

after pgg meeting, the usually ended around 11 +.. we will have a round of teh tarik at hs cafe, along with other few friends..( around 6 -7 ppl).. and had a good chat, discussing over issues, generating ideas on how to make pgg and things around us into a better place or condition.

she loves to read, and read..all those motivational books, (the exact opposite of me..heh), and she would suggest me to read them as well. which i never did! bad bad me

in one occasion, she invited me to join her to this special kids school in gombak.. we went there, n she was so excited to see them, mingling with them, trying to understand them as they are, taking their pictures and lots of it.. i could see the passion, the sympathy and the love inside her eyes..which made me happy just to be there.. 

i just hope we can hang out together for the last time before i end my bachelor status.. and listen to all her positive talks..
